Backstory
The child of Odette Crestfallen and Sasuke, Odessa is a free-spirited former assassin that was born and raised on the island called Chimyscion. Odessa, formerly known as "Child E", grew up alongside her four elder brothers and one younger sister. From the age of five until the age of ten, Odessa and her siblings were raised by their parents to be skilled warriors in order to become proficient assassins once they came of age. Despite the strict living conditions enforced upon them by their parents, Odessa and her four elder brothers managed to adapt. However, her sister, Child F, struggled as it was apparent that she didn't have what it took to be honed into a killer. Odessa would tend to her younger sister as much as possible, showing her the love that neither parent cared to show her. Slowly as time passed, the four elder boys adapted to their upbringing and began showing signs of potential to become assassins. Odessa also proved herself despite her rebellious behavior. Unfortunately, Child F barely improved from the years of training. Neither Odette nor Sasuka cared and felt if their youngest child couldn't hack it, then she would simply perish when the time had come to put all six children to the ultimate test.
Once Child F had turned thirteen, with the rest of her siblings being between the ages of fourteen and seventeen, Odette and Sasuke were ready to put their children to the ultimate test. Odette recruited several lower-level demons to test each one of her children. The siblings would be ordered to travel to different areas within Chimyscion, where they would face their opponent. Upon encountering their respective demon, the battle for survival would begin. Odessa would arrive at her destination and find herself faced off against a low-level incubus. Gripping her katana with a fiery determination in her eyes, Odessa would combat the demon. While it wasn't as simple as she had hoped, Odessa emerged victorious. Instead of returning to her parents to show proof of her victory, Odessa quickly began searching through the island to find her sister. knowing that she wouldn't be able to overcome her opponent. The time Odessa had found her sister, Child F, it was already too late.
The demon that she was sent to battle had defeated and begun feasting on her corpse. Enraged, Odessa charged at the demon and mercilessly killed him with more brutality than the one she previously defeated. Odessa then immediately returned to her parents with fury in her heart with the intent to attack them. Her four brothers had all slain their assigned demons, as they also had returned home. Odessa stared angrily at her mother and charged towards her with her katana. Odette is unfazed by her daughter's rage, knowing that it's due to her witnessing her younger sister's death. Odette effortlessly dodged her daughter's attack before delivering a powerful kick to her daughter's spine, knocking her unconscious.
Three days later, Odessa woke up and realized that she had been healed. Instead of pondering about who or what had healed her. Odessa went to go find and confront her mother. She would see her family sitting at the dining table with only the most exquisite of foods for them to eat. Odessa was stunned, but her anger had remained. Odette, staring smugly at her only daughter began to congratulate her for slaying not only her demon but also the demon that Child F had failed to kill. Odette would then call her "Odessa Shizuka Renee Crestfallen", and due to her having passed her test, she would no longer be referred to as "Child E". The same reward was given to her brothers, who all gained actual names instead of being referred to as "Child A, B, C, & D". Sasuke would then order Odessa to have a seat with her brother and take part in the feast that was rewarded to the victors. Odette would then hold up a champagne glass and propose a toast, "The Crestfallen tradition has continued successfully. Grooming the next generation of legendary assassins. My mother had given birth to ten children, but only three of them survived, me being one of the three. I have birthed six children, and only one of them perished. Looks like I breed stronger warriors than she could have ever imagined... pitiful wrench! Now my five remaining children, this is the life you can all expect to enjoy now that you all have proven to me that you have what it takes to be legendary killers! So feast, my precious killer cause mother had more training to give to each of you".
Hearing how nonchalant her mother was about the loss of "Child E", the rage festered within Odessa. Unfortunately, she knew she wasn't strong enough to even consider avenging her deceased sister. Continuing to remain under her parents' care until the age of twenty-three, Odessa would leave home and venture out on her own. Work came by easy because there was always a Sage or Witch someone wanted killed. Along with protecting various important clients throughout the Mortal Realm, Odessa began enjoying all the perks of being a well-connected woman, such as lavish parties where the finest of men attended and the most delectable of drinks were served. Odessa enjoyed raunchy nights with various attractive men and drank potions to avoid pregnancy. While Odessa admired the life she led ever since leaving Chimyscion, the hatred she felt towards her parents still lingered, even harboring some of it towards her elder brothers, who became extremely protective of their mother. Odessa desired to someday challenge her mother in a battle of life and death. Continuing to live her life as a killer for hire, one of her clients would reward her with a mystical sword called Huntress! It took Odessa some time to get used to the beautiful but orthodox sword, but in no time she wielded it as if it was second nature. While many people in her position would have abandoned their old katana and simply wielded Huntress, Odessa decided she would keep her weapon from childhood and taught herself to wield both weapons. Odessa continued living her life like this for many years, growing stronger as time marched forward.
Many years later, after the death of Queen Ida and the rulership of Mayland's current King, Onyx Carnival, he would prepare for his fifth Devilry Combat Tournament in order to defend his crown. Odessa would be hired to partake in the tournament by a secretive group of politicians who despised having a half-demon as their country's King and wanted him dead. Odessa would enter the tournament with the goal of reaching Onyx and slaying him in order to replace him with a ruler of their choosing. Yura Mikan, the current King's Leading Lady kept a close eye on Odessa, sensing the woman had an ulterior motive for participating in the tournament since she knew she wasn't the type who wanted to be a Queen. The tournament proceeded as normal, as fighters began eliminating one another in order to get closer to battling Onyx for his crown. Odessa, who had originally been hired to participate in the tournament as normal in order to not arouse suspicion. Suddenly, she received a message from the ones who hired her to infiltrate Onyx's castle and take him out. Odessa preferred to face Onyx head-on instead of the more cowardly tradition of killing someone by surprise, but nevertheless she decided to do as she was told. Odessa would enter the castle and managed to pass through Onyx's general guards. Odessa was nearly on her way towards Onyx's room. She began thinking that this was strangely too easy since Onyx was not only a half demon but also a telepath and should have already picked up on her presence. However, unbeknownst to her, Yura had convinced James to take Onyx to the nearby mall. Thus, when Odessa had entered Onyx's room, none other than Yura Mikan was waiting for her.
The two women did not even bother exchanging words and immediately began to battle. The first would quickly exit from inside of Onyx's castle into the backyard. Onyx's current Royal Guards, Railing, Red, and Meghan, attempted to assist Yura in battling the assassin. However, Yura demanded that they stay out of it, believing that she alone was more than capable of handling the assassin. She went as far as scolding them for not noticing Odessa having infiltrated the castle. Only Meghan and the regular guards were taken aback by Yura's scolding, as neither Red nor Railing gave a fuck since they were used to Yura's bitchy demeanor. The battle between the women continued as Yura used her deadly ice and shadow manipulation techniques, with Odessa countering them using her dual swords. Odessa would then quickly pick up on the fact that Yura herself is an assassin but be surprised to see a woman of her caliber in service of a rather noble ruler. Yura ignored Odessa and continued her attempts to kill her. The fight raged on as both women had managed to make contact with one another. Yura slashed Odessa's left leg, and Odessa left a cut on Yura's right arm. Just then, a portal in the garden opened with Onyx and James stepping from outside of it. Odessa was now worried that she would not only fail her mission, but also be killed by Onyx. However, after assessing the situation, Onyx and James would strangely bend towards the ground and place one of their palms into the blood that was spilled by both Yura and Odessa during their fight. The two of them would then taste the blood of Yura and then the blood of Odessa. Nodding their heads afterwards, Onyx would then order for the battle to cease. Before Yura could even try to say a word of protest, Onyx delivered an unexpected revelation that both Yura and Odessa were related via third cousins.
Author's Note: Demons/Cambions cannot only determine blood relations with one another via smell. They can taste the blood of humans and other beings in order to determine relations among them as well. It's not a common practice since the average demon doesn't care about its human victims blood relations.
The battle stopped, and Onyx plainly ordered everyone, including Odessa, to return to his castle. While most rulers would have punished their guards for failing to catch an invader and would have also killed the invader on the spot, Onyx was not like the previous rulers of Mayland. Not only was he glad to see his guards were unharmed, but Onyx also decided to have a conversation with Odessa as he showed genuine interest in the would-be assassin. Yura, while staying close to Onyx's side with James present as well, knew that Onyx was going to give her cousin the same offer that he gave her many years before. The conversation concluded with Odessa agreeing to become the newest of Onyx's Royal Guards but under one condition. The condition being that Odessa doesn't want to live in the castle like the other guards, but wants to be able to roam freely throughout the Mortal Realm. Yura immediately told her cousin to either live in the castle as the other Royal Guards or be executed. However, Onyx would agree with Odessa's terms, much to Yura's dismay, but on the condition she has to return to the castle every six months while he remains Mayland's ruler. Odessa agreed as she stuck a middle finger up at Yura. Now with Odessa on his side, Onyx would have to unfortunately order Yura, James, and the other Royal Guards to deal with the people who hired Odessa. Once that was out of the way, the tournament concluded with Odessa dropping out and the other participants not being able to get past either Yura or James.
Now as a Royal Guard, Odessa no longer had to constantly look for work since Onyx was responsible for paying his Royal Guards on a biweekly basis. Odessa would continue to travel to various parts of the world but continued to avoid Chimyscion since her disdain towards her blood relatives remained solid. Odessa would serve Onyx for many years to come. Aiding in battling deadly dragons and witches, and even helping defend against Akodomal during the Five Year War. While she doesn't often say it, she is truly thankful to have the privilege to serve someone as strong and kind as Onyx. If only some type of misfortune could befall her annoying cousin, all would be perfect.

Odessa's backstory is quite intense and insane, to say the least. It's one thing witnessing the death of a loved one, but another witnessing the death of a loved one by the hand of other supposed loved ones who seemingly reveled in the fact that their child didn't have much of a chance in life. Forbidden portrays quite a number of instances of trauma and this one definitely ranks as one of the most grim and gripping. The craziness doesn't stop there for Odessa, as she discovers a secret cousin through battle...of all things. The constant clashing and tension between her and Yura will make for one bloodthirsty rivalry.

Odessa's mother intentionally named her "Odessa" to compliment her name "Odette". Especially knowing the animosity Odessa has for her due to Child F's death

Prior to that they were simply referred to as a single letter in the alphabets based on the order they were born. This is a tradition practiced by the Crestfallen family for the past six generations
