Backstory

The child of Odette Crestfallen and Sasuke, Odessa is a free-spirited former assassin that was born and raised on the island called Chimyscion. Odessa, formerly known as "Child E", grew up alongside her four elder brothers and one younger sister. From the age of five until the age of ten, Odessa and her siblings were raised by their parents to be skilled warriors in order to become proficient assassins once they came of age. Despite the strict living conditions enforced upon them by their parents, Odessa and her four elder brothers managed to adapt. However, her sister, Child F, struggled as it was apparent that she didn't have what it took to be honed into a killer. Odessa would tend to her younger sister as much as possible, showing her the love that neither parent cared to show her. Slowly as time passed, the four elder boys adapted to their upbringing and began showing signs of potential to become assassins. Odessa also proved herself despite her rebellious behavior. Unfortunately, Child F barely improved from the years of training. Neither Odette nor Sasuka cared and felt if their youngest child couldn't hack it, then she would simply perish when the time had come to put all six children to the ultimate test. 

Once Child F had turned thirteen, with the rest of her siblings being between the ages of fourteen and seventeen, Odette and Sasuke were ready to put their children to the ultimate test. Odette recruited several lower-level demons to test each one of her children. The siblings would be ordered to travel to different areas within Chimyscion, where they would face their opponent. Upon encountering their respective demon, the battle for survival would begin. Odessa would arrive at her destination and find herself faced off against a low-level incubus. Gripping her katana with a fiery determination in her eyes, Odessa would combat the demon. While it wasn't as simple as she had hoped, Odessa emerged victorious. Instead of returning to her parents to show proof of her victory, Odessa quickly began searching through the island to find her sister. knowing that she wouldn't be able to overcome her opponent. The time Odessa had found her sister, Child F, it was already too late. 

The demon that she was sent to battle had defeated and begun feasting on her corpse. Enraged, Odessa charged at the demon and mercilessly killed him with more brutality than the one she previously defeated. Odessa then immediately returned to her parents with fury in her heart with the intent to attack them. Her four brothers had all slain their assigned demons, as they also had returned home. Odessa stared angrily at her mother and charged towards her with her katana. Odette is unfazed by her daughter's rage, knowing that it's due to her witnessing her younger sister's death. Odette effortlessly dodged her daughter's attack before delivering a powerful kick to her daughter's spine, knocking her unconscious.

Three days later, Odessa woke up and realized that she had been healed. Instead of pondering about who or what had healed her. Odessa went to go find and confront her mother. She would see her family sitting at the dining table with only the most exquisite of foods for them to eat. Odessa was stunned, but her anger had remained. Odette, staring smugly at her only daughter began to congratulate her for slaying not only her demon but also the demon that Child F had failed to kill. Odette would then call her "Odessa Shizuka Renee Crestfallen", and due to her having passed her test, she would no longer be referred to as "Child E". The same reward was given to her brothers, who all gained actual names instead of being referred to as "Child A, B, C, & D". Sasuke would then order Odessa to have a seat with her brother and take part in the feast that was rewarded to the victors. Odette would then hold up a champagne glass and propose a toast, "The Crestfallen tradition has continued successfully. Grooming the next generation of legendary assassins. My mother had given birth to ten children, but only three of them survived, me being one of the three. I have birthed six children, and only one of them perished. Looks like I breed stronger warriors than she could have ever imagined... pitiful wrench! Now my five remaining children, this is the life you can all expect to enjoy now that you all have proven to me that you have what it takes to be legendary killers! So feast, my precious killer cause mother had more training to give to each of you".

Hearing how nonchalant her mother was about the loss of "Child E", the rage festered within Odessa. Unfortunately, she knew she wasn't strong enough to even consider avenging her deceased sister. Continuing to remain under her parents' care until the age of twenty-three, Odessa would leave home and venture out on her own. Work came by easy because there was always a Sage or Witch someone wanted killed. Along with protecting various important clients throughout the Mortal Realm, Odessa began enjoying all the perks of being a well-connected woman, such as lavish parties where the finest of men attended and the most delectable of drinks were served. Odessa enjoyed raunchy nights with various attractive men and drank potions to avoid pregnancy. While Odessa admired the life she led ever since leaving Chimyscion, the hatred she felt towards her parents still lingered, even harboring some of it towards her elder brothers, who became extremely protective of their mother. Odessa desired to someday challenge her mother in a battle of life and death. Continuing to live her life as a killer for hire, one of her clients would reward her with a mystical sword called Huntress! It took Odessa some time to get used to the beautiful but orthodox sword, but in no time she wielded it as if it was second nature. While many people in her position would have abandoned their old katana and simply wielded Huntress, Odessa decided she would keep her weapon from childhood and taught herself to wield both weapons. Odessa continued living her life like this for many years, growing stronger as time marched forward.

Many years later, after the death of Queen Ida and the rulership of Mayland's current King, Onyx Carnival, he would prepare for his fifth Devilry Combat Tournament in order to defend his crown. Odessa would be hired to partake in the tournament by a secretive group of politicians who despised having a half-demon as their country's King and wanted him dead. Odessa would enter the tournament with the goal of reaching Onyx and slaying him in order to replace him with a ruler of their choosing. Yura Mikan, the current King's Leading Lady kept a close eye on Odessa, sensing the woman had an ulterior motive for participating in the tournament since she knew she wasn't the type who wanted to be a Queen. The tournament proceeded as normal, as fighters began eliminating one another in order to get closer to battling Onyx for his crown. Odessa, who had originally been hired to participate in the tournament as normal in order to not arouse suspicion. Suddenly, she received a message from the ones who hired her to infiltrate Onyx's castle and take him out. Odessa preferred to face Onyx head-on instead of the more cowardly tradition of killing someone by surprise, but nevertheless she decided to do as she was told. Odessa would enter the castle and managed to pass through Onyx's general guards. Odessa was nearly on her way towards Onyx's room. She began thinking that this was strangely too easy since Onyx was not only a half demon but also a telepath and should have already picked up on her presence. However, unbeknownst to her, Yura had convinced James to take Onyx to the nearby mall. Thus, when Odessa had entered Onyx's room, none other than Yura Mikan was waiting for her.

The two women did not even bother exchanging words and immediately began to battle. The first would quickly exit from inside of Onyx's castle into the backyard. Onyx's current Royal Guards, Railing, Red, and Meghan, attempted to assist Yura in battling the assassin. However, Yura demanded that they stay out of it, believing that she alone was more than capable of handling the assassin. She went as far as scolding them for not noticing Odessa having infiltrated the castle. Only Meghan and the regular guards were taken aback by Yura's scolding, as neither Red nor Railing gave a fuck since they were used to Yura's bitchy demeanor. The battle between the women continued as Yura used her deadly ice and shadow manipulation techniques, with Odessa countering them using her dual swords. Odessa would then quickly pick up on the fact that Yura herself is an assassin but be surprised to see a woman of her caliber in service of a rather noble ruler. Yura ignored Odessa and continued her attempts to kill her. The fight raged on as both women had managed to make contact with one another. Yura slashed Odessa's left leg, and Odessa left a cut on Yura's right arm. Just then, a portal in the garden opened with Onyx and James stepping from outside of it. Odessa was now worried that she would not only fail her mission, but also be killed by Onyx. However, after assessing the situation, Onyx and James would strangely bend towards the ground and place one of their palms into the blood that was spilled by both Yura and Odessa during their fight. The two of them would then taste the blood of Yura and then the blood of Odessa. Nodding their heads afterwards, Onyx would then order for the battle to cease. Before Yura could even try to say a word of protest, Onyx delivered an unexpected revelation that both Yura and Odessa were related via third cousins.

Author's Note: Demons/Cambions cannot only determine blood relations with one another via smell. They can taste the blood of humans and other beings in order to determine relations among them as well. It's not a common practice since the average demon doesn't care about its human victims blood relations.

The battle stopped, and Onyx plainly ordered everyone, including Odessa, to return to his castle. While most rulers would have punished their guards for failing to catch an invader and would have also killed the invader on the spot, Onyx was not like the previous rulers of Mayland. Not only was he glad to see his guards were unharmed, but Onyx also decided to have a conversation with Odessa as he showed genuine interest in the would-be assassin. Yura, while staying close to Onyx's side with James present as well, knew that Onyx was going to give her cousin the same offer that he gave her many years before. The conversation concluded with Odessa agreeing to become the newest of Onyx's Royal Guards but under one condition. The condition being that Odessa doesn't want to live in the castle like the other guards, but wants to be able to roam freely throughout the Mortal Realm. Yura immediately told her cousin to either live in the castle as the other Royal Guards or be executed. However, Onyx would agree with Odessa's terms, much to Yura's dismay, but on the condition she has to return to the castle every six months while he remains Mayland's ruler. Odessa agreed as she stuck a middle finger up at Yura. Now with Odessa on his side, Onyx would have to unfortunately order Yura, James, and the other Royal Guards to deal with the people who hired Odessa. Once that was out of the way, the tournament concluded with Odessa dropping out and the other participants not being able to get past either Yura or James.

Now as a Royal Guard, Odessa no longer had to constantly look for work since Onyx was responsible for paying his Royal Guards on a biweekly basis. Odessa would continue to travel to various parts of the world but continued to avoid Chimyscion since her disdain towards her blood relatives remained solid. Odessa would serve Onyx for many years to come. Aiding in battling deadly dragons and witches, and even helping defend against Akodomal during the Five Year War. While she doesn't often say it, she is truly thankful to have the privilege to serve someone as strong and kind as Onyx. If only some type of misfortune could befall her annoying cousin, all would be perfect.

CHRIS LOTUS' THOUGHTS 

Odessa's backstory is quite intense and insane, to say the least. It's one thing witnessing the death of a loved one, but another witnessing the death of a loved one by the hand of other supposed loved ones who seemingly reveled in the fact that their child didn't have much of a chance in life. Forbidden portrays quite a number of instances of trauma and this one definitely ranks as one of the most grim and gripping. The craziness doesn't stop there for Odessa, as she discovers a secret cousin through battle...of all things. The constant clashing and tension between her and Yura will make for one bloodthirsty rivalry.

Odessa's mother intentionally named her "Odessa" to compliment her name "Odette". Especially knowing the animosity Odessa has for her due to Child F's death

Odessa's older brothers Alaric and Falk are twins with Alaric being the older twin

Odessa alongside her brother all have a Japanese middle name

Odessa and Yura are third cousins which was discovered by Onyx and James during their battle against one another via tasting their blood

A freezing cold feeling transforms into bubbly emotions then they become extremely hot before being hit by gloomy emotions. Lastly the opponent's heart explodes from inside as they drop to the ground

Scylla Baros, a water sage who hailed from Greece and a member of Team Hellin, entered the house of a woman named Cassandra Adesina who resided in Lagos. Espionage was not Scylla's specialty nor was entering someone's home without permission. However knowing what Cassandra had planned for her friend, Nadiya Nnamdi, Scylla knew she needed to handle the mischievous woman before she could act on her schemes against Nadiya.

A FEW DAYS AGO

After having completed another dangerous mission in Ik-Qoise alongside her allies Hellin, Orsela, August, Trevyn, Lea, Romeo, and Brody, the heroes entered a dungeon where they had fought an ancient being by the name of Chernobog. The battle was not easy and required the best of efforts on the heroes' part, but they managed to defeat the powerful being. Chernobog would no longer be a burden to the citizens of Ik-Qoise, and those sages who had fallen to the evil being were now avenged. Shortly after, Hellin and Lea teleported the heroes back to Mayland to report back to Onyx. Scylla received a text message from her friend Nadiya to attend her seminar in her hometown in Lagos this evening. Normally a trip from Mayland to Lagos for someone like Scylla would have easily taken half a day by plane. Fortunately she was still in Hellin's company since Lea had hurried back to her home in Plutonia, taking Romeo with her. Hellin had already planned to take Trevyn back to his palace in Nigeria, so Scylla tagging along was a non-issue.

Scylla would then arrive at the hotel she had booked a few days prior before heading up to her room. Scylla would shower in order to freshen herself up from her mission earlier. Along with changing to much more appropriate clothes compared to her light and see-through white Grecian clothing she normally wears into battle. It was 6:47 PM in Lagos as Scylla wanted to arrive just early enough to find a good seat but not too early to avoid getting caught up in an unwanted conversation with strangers. Scylla had only befriended Nadiya very recently after meeting her a month ago at a seminar she attended in Greece speaking on choosing simplicity over magic. Scylla still reflects on the day she was once a normal woman before the fateful day when she nearly lost her baby sister, Myla, to an envious witch. Scylla would then encounter a mysterious hermit whom she reluctantly kissed in order to gain the power to save her sister. While forever grateful that Myla's life was saved. Scylla always harbored resentment for possessing a power she never wanted. Thus thrown into the fray of the never-ending battle against evil. Hearing Nadiya speak on the magic of simplicity ignited something pleasant in Scylla's soul. In a world full of magic, demons, beastarians, fairies, and dragons. It was refreshing to know that there were people like Nadiya who enjoyed being a regular human.

After the seminar as Scylla was ready to go home. Nadiya had walked up to her and introduced herself. Normally folks avoided Scylla since she had an aura about herself that screamed ice queen. However, Nadiya was able to see past Scylla's iron exterior and saw the graceful soul within. The two women would go out to eat at a ramen shop and begin conversing with one another. Scylla spoke about her nephews, her teammates, and even mentioned her apprentice Pranai, who lived in Thailand. Nadiya would reciprocate Scylla's openness by discussing her personal life and her recent divorce from her ex-husband, Winston, who was having an affair with her former best friend, Cassandra. Having accidentally discovered her husband's infidelity. Instead of allowing her emotions to get the better of her. Nadiya decided to simply walk away. It was only afterwards that Winston regretted his decision, but Nadiya refused to turn back. Instead, she would move on with her life, continuing to inspire those all throughout the world with her various seminars. Unfortunately it seems that Nadiya had underestimated Cassandra's disdain for her. Even after having sabotaged her friend's marriage. Cassandra tried to use her influence in the Nigerian media to ruin Nadiya. Fortunately her efforts have mostly been fruitless, but Nadiya still encountered a few bumps in the road. The worst part was that only Nadiya knew that it was Cassandra doing it to her, spreading various rumors about what really caused Nadiya and Winston's marriage to end.

Hearing about this Cassandra woman really irked Scylla since it reminded her of the many nasty bitches she had the displeasure of meeting throughout her life. When she was in her 50s, a friend by the name of Prina had committed suicide after learning that her boyfriend cheated. That very day marked Scylla's refusal to ever be in a relationship, and thus she had remained single ever since. The two women would finish their food before leaving the restaurant and exchanging contact info. A few days later, Nadiya would invite Scylla to her upcoming seminar in Lagos and have Scylla promise that she would show up. Despite knowing the unpredictable life she lives. She promised her friend that she would be in attendance. Shortly after the seminar had ended. Before Scylla went to meet up with Nadiya, she had gone to find the women's restroom. Upon arriving towards the door of the bathroom, Scylla overheard a woman conversing with herself about having finally found a way to ruin Nadiya for good. Seconds later a gorgeous bronze-skinned woman with amber and mahogany-colored curly hair wearing a turquoise dress. This was none other than the despicable Cassandra Adesina. One of Nigeria's popular media personalities and the very woman who ruined Nadiya's marriage and set out to ruin her entirely. "Can I help you?" Cassandra said to Scylla in a snarky tone. Scylla responded with "Yes! You can move from the bathroom door" in the same nasty demeanor. Cassandra simply looked at Scylla like she was less than a roach before brushing past her. It took everything in that moment for Scylla not to grab her by the hair and slam her onto the floor. Scylla did not wish to make a scene at her friend's event. Nonetheless, after hearing what she heard Cassandra said in the bathroom. Scylla knows that she has to be dealt with sooner than later. Before returning back to Nadiya, Scylla texted her apprentice Pranai and asked him to get her some info on Cassandra Adesina.

Meeting up with Nadiya, Scylla attempted to hide her rage in order to not make her worried. Instinctively Nadiya knew something was up and asked Scylla with genuine concern what was bothering her. Scylla responded with, "It's work-related stuff. I got a message from one of my teammates that I may be needed." Nadiya looked both concerned and disappointed but understood that Scylla wasn't a normal woman like her. Scylla then received a text from Pranai, giving his mentor the information required in order to execute her plan. "I understand you have your own responsibilities, but I truly thank you for coming tonight. I hope this isn't the last time we meet", said Nadiya before she hugged and planted a kiss on Scylla's forehead. Scylla bid her farewell before exiting the scene in order to deal with the scheming Cassandra.

NOW

Successfully having entered Cassandra's home thanks to the clever usage of her water magic. Scylla quietly began exploring throughout her home while making sure to not make any unnecessary noises. Heading towards the room that Scylla believed was Cassandra's bedroom, a glowing yellow circle suddenly formed beneath Scylla's sandals. Before she could react, a voice shouts out "SHOCK SIGIL!" and Scylla was immediately enveloped in a yellow colored cylinder that produced powerful voltage from within. Shocked from within the magical cylinder, Scylla lets out an agonizing scream as she dropped to the floor, covered in blisters and burn marks. Injured but retaining consciousness, she listened as Cassandra approached her from behind. Staring down at her intruder, Cassandra wore a lavender colored night gown and a dismissive look proudly on her face as she confronted Scylla for entering her home uninvited.

Cassandra: Well, if it isn't the little pest I saw earlier at the seminar. I knew I should have dealt with you when I encountered your sorry ass earlier. Luckily for me, your stupid ass came to me! I betcha you thought I was just like Nadiya. A regular mortal who practiced zero magic... oh were you so wrong!

Scylla: Shock Sigil is an offensive magic spell. Only registered sages should have that type of spell in their arsenal. That means you either learned or was taught that spell through illegal means. I'm guessing you have a connection with a witch hidden in Nigeria?

Cassandra: You guessed right smartass, but not smart enough to enter my home and thinking you'll walk out alive. So tell me, did Nadiya send you to handle me? I knew she would eventually figure out it was me trying to sabotage her career. I thought having an affair with that loser ex-husband of hers would have broken her. Instead she decided to be the "bigger person" and just move on with her life. Ever since then I have made it my mission to destroy her. I won't rest until I see Nadiya completely in ruin!

Scylla: So it wasn't enough for your sorry ass to ruin her marriage and damage her view of love. Now you want to go so fucking far as to ruin her reputation and career? And to think I came here just to confront and merely scare your sorry ass to leave my friend alone. However, I see now such a plan is fruitless for a bitch like you! Instead I need to make for certain that you'll never disturb Nadiya ever again

Cassandra: And how the fuck do you plan on doing that?

Scylla: The only way I know how... by drowning you!

Spotting the venom in Scylla's eyes, Cassandra attempts to perform another spell, but it's already too late. Using the toilet water in Cassandra's home, Scylla manipulates it and directs it towards her target. An unsuspected stream of water strikes Cassandra, knocking her viciously onto the ground. Scylla then uses a spell called "Water Heal" that heals the burns and blisters on her body that she received from Cassandra earlier. Rising to her feet, Scylla walks purposefully towards the downed Cassandra while conjuring a ball of water in her right palm. Soaked and barely recovering from the unexpected attack, Cassandra stares up and sees Scylla towering over her with a killer intent. Cassandra attempted to speak, perhaps to plead for mercy, but Scylla was not interested in her words.

Scylla: Save your breath, bitch! There is nothing you can say that will change my mind. You should have left Nadiya alone when you had the chance, but now it's over for you!

Scylla then flings the ball of water that she formed within her palm onto Cassandra's head. The water then transforms into a sphere that covers Cassandra from her hair down to her chest, and immediately Cassandra begins gasping for air as she begins to suffocate. Cassandra struggles for a few minutes before she passes away. Scylla walks away from Cassandra's corpse and exits the home. Unbeknownst to Scylla, Hellin had also been at the scene and witnessed her friend and ally coldly murder Cassandra. Hellin had received a text from Pranai, who was concerned about his mentor's safety and asked Hellin to check after her. Conflicting emotions erupted in her mind for a part of her knew she should have stopped Scylla from murdering Cassandra. At the same time someone like Cassandra didn't deserve to live. Hellin herself had killed indiscriminately, so she wasn't exactly in the position to berate Scylla for taking a life. Hellin had witnessed Scylla kill many times before, but those were on missions against wicked beings; hence they were justified. This time, though, Scylla had taken the life of someone who wasn't deemed a threat to society but solely an individual. Still, Hellin knew not only what her friend did was wrong but even worse. Scylla's actions in Cassandra's home would now deem her as a witch! A name for a sage who has fallen from grace or uses their magic for selfish purposes. Still, Hellin had no intentions of turning her friend over to the authority, nor would she dare tell Onyx or anyone else what she had witnessed this very night. Instead, Hellin planned on cleaning whatever evidence that would possibly lead Nigeria's authorities to discover Scylla was Cassandra's killer. Once certain that not even Nigeria's best investigators, both magical and non-magical would be able to know for certain that it was Scylla who killed Cassandra. Hellin took her leave back to her home realm, the Underworld. Of course, she already knew at some point she was going to have to confront Scylla about this very matter.

The next day it was plastered all over the news that Cassadra Adesina had been murdered by an unknown water sage. Queen Adama, along with her son, Prince Trevyn spoke to the media about this unfortunate incident involving the media personality and said that they would do their best to bring her killer to justice. Scylla finally returned home a few hours later in Greece and greeted her parents whom she lived with, before heading back to her room. Exhausted from everything that had transpired that night, as she got ready to lie down. Scylla didn't once regret taking Cassandra's life but did wish she did things more calculated instead of acting on instincts. Realizing that she didn't exactly clean up any trail that would lead Nigeria's investigators to discover that she was in Cassandra's home the night she died. Scylla wondered had someone else had been on the scene that also wanted Cassandra gone. Regardless, Scylla had killed before, and Cassandra was just another vermin that she washed from existence. Scylla then texted Nadiya, simply saying, "You don't have to worry anymore. Talk to you later, and be well". Scylla then lay naked in her bed as she awaited an inevitable text from her comrades to fight yet another evil.

Bio: Erykah Shambles is one of the three current members of a special group known as "The Referred", a wet work group that exists within The Hero Syndicate. Alongside Erykah is her teammates Martika Snow and Juno Malware. Together, these three women work in unison to handle assignments that the common sage wouldn't tackle. This was due to either their own morality or simply lacking proper skills for such complex missions. Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Erykah enjoyed a simple life with her parents and elder sister Marcia in the early years of her life. While her parents were respective sages and her sister was a sage-in-training, Erykah had a high respect for sages and was proud to be in such a family. However her passion wasn't magic, but instead studying medicine as she aspired to become a doctor. Life for Erykah in her homeland was relatively normal until one unfortunate day where she was kidnapped by a group of witches.

The witches kidnapped the young girl and took her all the way from Haiti to their secret hideout located in Mayland. They kidnapped Erykah due to noticing the girl had possessed no magical powers, which made her the perfect candidate for their nefarious experiment. Once brought to the witches' hideout, Erykah found herself placed on a ritual table and alongside her were three reptilian type beasterians who were also bound to the ritual table. Fearful for what was to come next, Erykah and the three beasterians would discover that the witches intended to use Erykah as a vessel in order to infuse the physical characteristics of the reptilian beasterians into her. While the experiment would surely kill the three beasterians, the witches had high hopes that Erykah would survive the experiment unlike their previously captured humans. The witches conducted their experiment, which proved to be a painful experience for Erykah and the lives of the reptilian beasterians were lost. Still, the experiment proved successful as Erykah was infused with reptilian DNA. Before the witches could conduct further testing, unbeknownst to them, they would be then confronted an assassin by the name of Tobirama Senju had been lingering nearby He was ordered by Mayland's 134th ruler, Queen Ida to track down these nefarious witches due to their actions within Mayland.

Despite their earnest efforts to defeat and kill him, Tobirama proved too much for the witches to handle and he mercilessly killed each one of them. Tobirama then retrieved Erykah who was struggling to control the reptilian DNA that had been implanted within her. Tobirama would keep the young girl with him for a few days to keep an eye on her condition. Once he saw that the reptilian DNA had successfully merged with Erykah and her life was no longer in danger, Tobirama and one of Queen Ida's royal guards brought Erykah back to her family in Haiti. However, ever since that day, Erykah wasn't the innocent little girl everyone once knew. She harbored deep resentments and desired to become strong in order to never become a victim again. Eventually at the age of fifteen, Erykah would leave Haiti on her own accord. She traveled over to Mayland once again where she would hone her body transformation magic under the tutelage of Tobirama Senju. Shortly afterwards, Tobirama would have Erykah enlisted as a freelance Sage in Mayland's Hero Syndicate where the young woman would be paired with a variety of groups on adventures. This allowed her to test her skills and become stronger with each mission. Erykah would remain a freelance sage into her adulthood. Due to how strong she had become, she even began taking on solo missions with great success. Erykah would continue working mostly alone,  occasionally offering her aid to miscellaneous groups within the syndicate.

One evening while on a solo mission, Erykah found herself in a tough situation as she was being chased by a group of very powerful witches. Hot on her trail, Erykah did her earnest to try to lose her pursuers by using an array of her reptilian abilities. Unfortunately, her efforts weren't sufficient and she was about to be cornered by the enemy. Fortunately for her, a handsome and strong male demon by the name Kimoni came to Erykah's aid and together the two of them dominated the dangerous group of witches. Afterwards, despite knowing that Kimoni was a demon, Erykah fell head over heels for the handsome brown skinned demon and the two would end up having sex. Eventually after her weeks of being romantically entangled with Kimoni, Erykah would discover that she had become pregnant. However due to her unique biology, Erykah was able to function as normal on her assignments until her third trimester. During that time, due to Kimoni coming in and out of Erykah's life and her having her own responsibilities, their romance simmered quickly. Despite falling out of love with one another, Kimoni promised to be an active father in their child's life and would not hesitate to provide Erykah financial support. Erykah eventually gave birth to her son, Kenan who she would raise while also keeping up with her duties within the syndicate.

Many more years have passed since Erykah began her life in Mayland. She had learned about the death of her tutor Tobirama. She had witnessed Queen Ida's reign coming to an end at the hands of a cambion named Onyx Carnival, the son of Tobirama who had slain Ida out of vengeance for her role in his father's death. Erykah would continue to climb up the ranks within the syndicate. After more than a century of good service, The Hero Syndicate would entrust Erykah to be a part of a secretive group within the Hero Syndicate. This faction saw her serving alongside a mischievous sage by the name Martika Snow and an enigmatic woman by the name Juno Malware. Erykah disliked the idea of being paired with two women. Regardless, they would be officially established as the wet work trio of highly skilled & intelligent known as The Referred. They didn't mind getting their hands dirty on missins due to not possessing the same level of morals as the everyday sage. The three women would work together to tackle threats that most sages wouldn't have the capacity to handle. Erykah would eventually get used to her unique comrades while continuing to raise her cambion son, whom she doted on despite the fact he would work her nerves. It helped a lot that Kimoni helped her whenever he wasn't tied up with his personal business in his home realm, The Underworld.

Sometimes Erykah wondered what kind of life she would have lived if that fateful day never happened. Regardless of the hardships, Erykah had become thankful for the fact that it led her to the life she lives today. She became a well rounded woman, having stability, and most importantly a son she loves with all her heart. These are the things that keep pushing her to greatness. It also helps that her job allows her to kill witches without a drop of remorse.

CHRIS LOTUS' THOUGHTS - So...Erykah is definitely another top favorite of mine. It's always a treat seeing a design that instantly vibes with you. It's an even SWEETER treat when the character's backstory vibes with you just as much and warms your heart. As someone who spent the most critical times of their life raised by a single super-mom, I absolutely love Erykah. What is additionally relatable is such a character pushing and fighting back against a world that is viciously against them and not letting the vitriol of such a world corrupt their heart. We've seen such people actually fall victim to such a corrupt world and it not only affects them, but those around them (families, friends, etc.). Additionally, we all sometimes wonder how would things be if they hadn't encountered certain things en route to where they are now in life...just as Erykah does. Also, back to the design, I love Grace Jones. Definitely can't go wrong with looking to such a boundary breaking icon to produce a unique aesthetic.

1. Erykah's appearance is inspired by model and actress Grace Jones.

2. Erykah's name "Shambles" is a surname she gave herself shortly after becoming a resident in Mayland. Her family name though is Celestin.

3. Erykah has a similar backstory to Helly Carmichael of course with several key differences.

4. Much to her reluctance. Erykah acts as the "mother bear" to her teammates Juno and Martika .
