BACKSTORY
Known as The Witch of Torment named VAIN, formally known as Priscilla Osman, VAIN was once a devout servant of God for she was a nun who ran an orphanage alongside her fellow nuns, Sister Maria and Sister Amy. Growing up despite living in a world of magic, demons, dragons, and other such anomalies, Priscilla believed in the good of mankind. For outside of fairies, beasterians, orcs, and goblins, humans were created in God's image and inhabited the world to help it prosper despite ending up falling from His grace due to their own selfish desires. Regardless, Priscilla loved all living things and devoted herself to serving God, and helping those she could since her childhood and all the way to adulthood when she became a nun. Priscilla wounded up running an orphanage in England with the help of her fellow nuns, Sister Maria and Sister Amy. Together the three women worked tirelessly to care for and educate all the orphaned children who came into their care.
Over the years, while being mindful of the dangers within their world, Priscilla and her fellow nuns continued devoting their time and energy to caring for the children who were not yet adopted. Priscilla and her sisters also aided those within their community. Everything seemed to be going smoothly and Priscilla was extremely thankful to God that He had given her life so much purpose. Never did she imagine that she would be bestowed with the divine purpose of helping those in need of grace. However, everything changed when a Cambion (half-demon, half-human) girl named Charlie ended up in their care. Despite Charlie being half-demon, Priscilla treated the girl no different than the other children living in the orphanage.
Unfortunately, Sister Amy and Sister Maria did not share Priscilla's tenderness towards the half-demon. Nor did many of the children within the orphanage because many of them had become orphans due to their parents or guardians being eaten by demons. The children often attempted to unleash their anguish upon the young Cambion, but Priscilla came to Charlie's rescue every time. Priscilla’s unfaltering kindness towards her caused Charlie to view Priscilla as a mother figure. She even asked the nun for permission to use her surname, Osman, for herself. Priscilla happily agreed and thus, Charlie became Charlie Osman. Despite the length of time Charlie remained in the orphanage, neither Amy nor Maria ever allowed themselves to warm up to the child; viewing her as a monster that didn't belong among the human children.
While Priscilla was present in the orphanage, Charlie did not fear being bullied. One day while out running small errands. Priscilla came across a half-cat half-dog stuffed animal named "Donnie" and it immediately made her think of Charlie. Priscilla bought the doll and give it to Charlie, which the young girl promised to cherish forever. Sometime later, a small orphanage in Scotland reached out to Priscilla's orphanage in need of help. Priscilla told the orphanage that she would travel there to help and leave Sister Maria and Sister Amy to take care of things in her absence. Priscilla told Charlie that she would be away for about two weeks and promised, when she returned, she’d bake a cheesecake just for Charlie to enjoy if she behaved in her absence. Priscilla also had a long talk with her fellow sisters about properly running things while she was away. Both Maria and Amy promised to do right by the orphanage and all the children. Unfortunately, neither woman intended to treat Charlie right during Priscilla's absence, which would prove to be a fatal mistake in the near future.
Believing the words of her sisters, Priscilla journeyed to Scotland. During Priscilla's absence, the kids had no one standing in their way to stop their tormenting of Charlie. Neither Amy nor Maria lifted a finger to stop the bullying. Charlie tried to be a strong girl for Priscilla while she was away, knowing that when Priscilla returned that she could tell her mother figure about the horrible treatment she’d endured. Unexpectedly, each time the kids picked on Charlie, the demonic side of her began to emerge and grow stronger.
Returning to England a few days earlier than expected, bags in hand, Priscilla made her way towards the orphanage, believing that all would be in order. As she moved closer, Priscilla felt an unshakable sense of dread. Trying her best to ignore the ominous thoughts haunting her mind, Priscilla hurried towards the orphanage with each step feeling heavier than the last. Upon arriving at the doorstep, Priscilla sensed something had gone terribly wrong. She even saw what appeared to be dried blood underneath the door. Bracing herself for the worse, Priscilla opened the door and stepped inside. Sheer horror overtook her soul upon seeing the dead bodies of all the children, minus Charlie. She walked deeper into the orphanage, searching for Maria, Amy, and Charlie.
Priscilla was petrified when she saw the decimated bodies of Amy and Maria leading towards Charlie's bedroom. She embraced herself as she slowly walked towards Charlie's bedroom and opened the door. Sitting on the bed, looking demonic, with her stuffed animal Donnie in hand, Charlie wrathfully said to Priscilla "I thought you loved me. How could you leave me behind with these monsters?! I HATE YOU, PRISCILLA!" Priscilla attempted to plead with Charlie, but the girl was too far gone. Charlie then leaped off of her bed and attempted to devour Priscilla. Instinctively, Priscilla dodged the girl and immediately unleashed a holy beam attack to the young Cambion’s heart, killing her.
Realizing what she’d done, Priscilla hurried over to Charlie and held the deceased girl in her arms. Tears fell from her eyes as she apologized to Charlie for everything. For the first time in her life, Priscilla felt absolute hatred in her heart. In that very moment, Priscilla cursed God and denounce Him, viewing her God as a traitor for allowing such a tragedy to happen despite all her years of service and dedication to him. All of her prayers and good deeds were in vain!
Abandoning her life as a nun, Priscilla, carrying the deceased Charlie in her arms, grabbed the girl's stuffed animal off her bed. Gradually, Priscilla's hair, skin, and eyes began changing from a once very human and kind looking woman into something twisted and dark. Her golden blonde hair turned a light lavender, her eyes changed from brown to lavender, and her skin from a soft sandy color to a demented purplish-gray shade. The woman known as Priscilla Osman was no more. Now there was only VAIN!
Using her newfound dark powers, VAIN burned the church to nothingness; for her only concern was giving Charlie a proper burial. Forsaking her devout ways, VAIN became a witch that would prey upon the inhabitants of England for many years to come. VAIN, with Donnie in her possession, uses her dark powers to torment individuals, particularly those roaming the London streets along during the night hours, before ultimately ending their lives. No longer a woman of kindness and serenity. VAIN exists only to cause suffering; for all of man deserves nothing but endless torment.

3. VAIN takes inspiration from Isabella "Ivy" Valentine from Soul Calibur and Baba Yaga from Slavic Folklore
4. VAIN's skin, hair, and eye color changing within her story represents a visible sign of her denouncing God and thus, losing the Holy powers she had while in servitude of Him
5. The original spelling of VAIN's name was going to be Vayne but I learned that Vayne is normally a surname while doing research, so I decided against it
6. VAIN's abilities are also loosely inspired by the video game "Evil Within"
