Backstory:
Along with the rest of his tribe residing in an island named Valquiria Island, located on the outskirts of the Southern Lands (The fictional equivalent of South America). Rockley and his people are the descendants of Valkyries who resided in Mystillia, the Realm of Gods. They decided to venture into the Mortal Realm and mate with humans many centuries ago. Several months later, they would leave their children to be raised by their human mates and return to their native realm. The people of Valquiria Island would form their own unique culture and way of life. While being mindful of the rest of the Mortal Realm, the citizens of Valquiria kept to themselves, only aiding the rest of the world whenever a major crisis threatened all of their existence. Eventually, Rockley would be born many years later after the events of The Five Year War.
Growing up, Rockley was a very curious child. Unlike most of the people within the island, Rockley always desired to someday venture throughout the rest of the Mortal Realm. He was trained in various forms of combat by his father, grandfather, and great grandmother since he was a child. The time Rockley had turned fifteen years of age, he was gifted a special weapon by his great grandmother called The Iron Unicorn. The Iron Unicorn was an ancient weapon that was created by their ancestors many centuries ago. The weapon allowed the wielder to use a variety of elemental powers in battle. Rockley would earnestly practice wielding the weapon and promised to cherish it as long as it remained in his possession. Knowing that Rockley would someday decide to leave the island to explore the rest of the world, his family were glad they prepared him to be a capable warrior and one that wasn't naive to the behaviors and culture outside of their island. Many years have passed since and Rockley was now twenty one years of age. The time for him to begin his adventure was imminent.
One evening while Rockley was doing solo training, a naked brown skinned male demon had appeared on the island. While Rockley panicked at the fact a demon would appear on their island, knowing the history of such ferocious beings, Rockley also knew that not all demons behaved in typical savage behavior. Thus, he decided to observe the demon from a careful distance. The demon was aware that Rockley was watching him, but paid him no mind since what he desired was not the human flesh. Instead, the demon would make its way to one of the island fruit trees and began to feast on the delectable blueberry mangos that only grew on Valquiria Island. Confused by what he was witnessing, Rockley decided to confront the demon. Questioning the demon's presence on the island, the demon paused on engorging on the tasty fruit and turned his attention onto Rockley. The demon introduced himself as Doran and ensured Rockley that he means no harm to his people or him as long as he isn't attacked by them. The two men would end up having a great conversation and Rockley would share his traveling plans with Doran. He mentioned his plans to traverse the Mortal Lands in order to see the rest of the world and combat various sages and warriors. Thankful for Rockley's generosity, Doran offered to take him any location within the Mortal Realm he desired to start his adventure. Rockley agreed and the two would find a spot on the island and spend the night together talking until they fell asleep. The next day, Rockley would bid farewell to his family and fellow villagers before meeting up with Doran and the two teleported out of Valquiria Island and reappeared in Paraguay. Convinced by Doran the night prior to make his starting point in Paraguay, Rockley looked forward to seeing new things and encountering strong yet noble warriors.
TRIVIA
1. Rockley is another art adopt that was transformed into an official FORBIDDEN character. Below is his original artwork
2. Rockley's character was also inspired by Risty from the Queen's Blade series. I even considered having Rockley keep his original colors from his AI Artwork. However I feared he looked too much like a genderbent Risty and decided to have his color changed to better distinguish him from one of his inspirations.
3. Drawn by Luc_Opens (An incredible artist on Twitter) While drawing Rockley, I requested that he give Rockley a unique color scheme based on a color palette I have sent him. Mainly because I didn't want Rockley to share identical colors of Risty as mentioned earlier.
4. Rockley does not wear underwear. One of his testicles is visible in his official artwork.
5. Rockley's weapon "Iron Unicorn" is based on the Japanese weapon named Kanabo.
6. While Rockley mainly uses his weapon in battle. Rockley is skilled in grappling, self defense, and Judo based techniques.
CHRIS LOTUS COMMENTS: I was actually quite surprised when I saw Rockley's original concept. Risty (of Queen's Blade) is one of my favorite anime characters. Similar to her, Rockley has an amazing look and a great personality to go along with it, having an incredibly imposing exterior yet being gentle and not being quick to judge others based on their appearance or other preconceived notions. I can appreciate Rockley's updated color palette, as it does give him a more unique look. I find his weapon fascinating, seeing that I do admire unique, elemental themed weapons and its a clever take on a samurai weapon from Feudal Japan.
