BACKSTORY

Past Life

Many centuries ago, there lived a blood witch named Erzsebet Bathory who resided in Hungary. For as long as Erzsebet could remember, she had an obsession with blood, especially the blood of virgin men and women. Upon reaching adulthood, Erszsebet settled in an isolated mountain located within her homeland. There she began practicing blood magic even more intently than she did during her years as a child under her parents’ roof. Because of her vast wealth, Erzsebet did not need to work, which, unfortunately, gave her plenty of time to indulge in her sinister lifestyle. Nearly for the past five years, Erzsebet traveled to the city to scout out her would-be victims. Upon choosing her next victim, Erzsebet used her cunning ways to befriend the individual who she would then bring to her home and brutally murder. Erzsebet continued this wicked tradition until one day she targeted the wrong individual. She was unaware that her target was a skilled sage who noticed the disappearance of many innocent people throughout the years, and suspected that Erzsebet was behind the killing, but didn't have proof to back it up. Doing what she did with all of her victims, Erzsebet brought the man home after gaining his trust, anticipating spilling his blood as she had done to so many others before.

Upon bringing the man home, it wasn't long before Erzsebet revealed her true colors as she readied for the kill. However, this man was not some unsuspecting victim, but was well-prepared for his hostess' treachery. Quickly, he displayed his magical prowess, which alerted his two comrades who were hiding in the mountains waiting for their cue. Shocked and angered that she was deceived into bringing a sage to her home, Erzsebet had no choice but to defend herself. Despite her best efforts, she was no match for the three sages as they fatally wounded her. Feeling her life slowly slipping away, the two male sages were content that Erzsebet's murder spree had finally come to an end. However, the lone female sage, who lost two relatives to Erzsebet's villainy, decided to place a curse upon her; a curse that in Erzsebet's next lifetime, she would have a miserable existence before dying just as pitifully as she lived. That was the end of the murderous blood countess, as her soul soon joined the many other deceased in the Spirit Realm.

The Life Of Emily Bathory

Many centuries later, a young girl by the name of Emily was born to two civilians named Derek and Lydia Bathory. Growing up in Hungary, life was pretty good for Emily. Sadly, two days after her fifth birthday, Emily's parents were killed by a witch who had lost control of his powers. Without any relatives around willing to take her in, Emily was sent to an orphanage where she was eventually taken in by a wealthy Hungarian family; not as their child but as a servant. Living under the roof of the Bacrofen family, Emily and the other servants received enough schooling to have a basic education, but were mainly taught to properly cater to the family's every need; those of the parents as well as their five children.

A life of servitude was not the life Emily desired, but her unfortunate circumstances led her down this disdainful path. Upon reaching legal age to leave the family and make her own path in life, Emily grew accustomed to servitude, despite the Bacrofen family being harsh at times. Overall, they were easy to handle, but with having only a basic education along with the fact that her once brown eyes turned mahogany shortly after the death of her parents, Emily had often been accused of being a demon, which did not bring her positive attention. Therefore, she felt it was best to just continue working under the Bacrofens. Unfortunately, just as Emily had grown complacent in her daily life, tragedy was about to rear its ugly head back into her life.

Unaware of the Bacrofen family's shady dealings, Harold Bacrofen, the head of the family, failed to keep a certain promise with an unknown figure. In retribution for not upholding his end of the deal, Harold's unknown acquaintance had a curse placed upon the family, turning all the members of the Bacrofen family within the mansion into mindless killers. While Emily was busy cleaning Lucille's room, the youngest of Harold's five children, Lucille entered her room. That didn't alarm Emily at first, but she felt something was off about the young heiress. Attempting to ignore the bad feeling, she hurried to finish up her chores for the evening. Lucille suddenly charged at Emily with a butcher knife she hid in her dress and attempted to stab Emily in her back. Emily, by the skin of her teeth, dodged the knife as it only grazed her left shoulder. Startled by Lucille's attempt to kill her along with the blood running down her shoulder, something dark awoke within Emily as she instinctively used the blood dripping down her arm and turned it into a short spear. Emily threw the blood spear directly at Lucille's head, killing her instantly. Regaining her senses right afterwards, Emily was shocked by what she had just done. However, before she had a moment to compose herself, Emily heard the screams of the other servants in the mansion and sensed that Lucille wasn't the only member of the Bacrofens who went insane.

Emerging out of Lucille's room and making her way to the dining area, Emily was horrified when she saw all of her fellow workers lying on the ground covered in their own blood. Standing over them was Harold along with what remained of his family. Staring at the only remaining servant within their mansion, Harold and his family were ready to kill Emily as they had done the others. However, unlike before, where she unintentionally killed Lucille, Emily remembered her ability to wield blood like a weapon. She used the blood of the dead servants on the floor and shaped it into spikes and drove the spikes into the bodies of the Bacrofens.

While thankful to have discovered her inner magic, although the origin of such powers was still unknown to her, Emily was now faced with the fact that she had just wiped out the Bacrofen family. Even though it was in self-defense, because of her low station in life, not a single soul would believe that the Bacrofens had gone mad. Instead, they would believe that their ungrateful servant had ruthlessly murdered them and everyone else in the house. Knowing this, Emily grabbed her valuables before exiting the mansion and having set it on fire from the inside. Forced to live life on the run, Emily feared what other misfortunes awaited her.

The Blood Nomad & Meeting Akodomal

Several years passed since that unfortunate day where Emily was forced to kill the Bacrofens. Living her life as a nomad, Emily traveled throughout various parts of Europe in order to evade any potential Bounty Hunters who may have been tasked with finding her. She feared that the fire several years ago may have not done enough to cover her tracks. Emily also constantly had nightmares about the murders. Yet, it wasn't only the Bacrofens she saw in her nightmares. She would see the faces of her victims who were people she has never once laid eyes upon, even in passing. Between her magic and the street smarts she was forced to learn over the years, Emily managed to survive for a very long time.

One day while traveling through a forest in Austria, she saw an injured young boy on the ground, bleeding from his leg. A dark sensation ran through Emily's body, but she ignored it and immediately rushed to the young boy's aid. The young boy was terrified upon seeing Emily, calling her a "demon" in his native tongue because of her eye color. However, Emily did her best to patch up the boy despite him pleading for her to go away. A female demon then appeared with blood on her hands. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the demon was hunting the young boy and responsible for his injury.

The demon gave a sinister grin. Now she had two mortals to devour. Only the boy felt fear. Emily knew that she could handle herself against the demon. Quickly, Emily used the blood from the boy's leg and transformed it into a dagger. She threw it directly into the demon's eye. The demon screamed out in pain as blood leaked from her eye. Knowing that she had to act swiftly before the demon self-regenerated, Emily used the blood that leaked from the demon's eye and wrapped it around the demon’s neck like a noose. Emily yanked the demon's head off, knowing that a headless demon could not regenerate, thus died within seconds. The boy was confused because he believed that he had been saved by a demon from another demon; not yet realizing that despite the woman's eye color, she was as human as him. Emily led the boy back to his family, but didn’t dare show her face, fearing an even worse negative reaction from the boy's parents.

Shortly after resuming her life as a nomad, Emily eventually encountered a god by the name of Akodomal. Akodomal, who desired to wipe all life from the Mortal Realm, was recruiting individuals to his cause. Naturally she was frightened by the god at first, fearing he was going to smite her. Instead, Akodomal used his divine abilities to awaken the woman's memories of her past life. Emily dropped to her knees upon learning that in her past life she was the dreaded serial killer Erzsebet Bathory, and that a female sage had cursed her upon death and that's why she was living the life she’s living now. Feeling unimaginable anger and resentment towards all of life in this world, just as Akodomal predicted, it took no further efforts on his part to recruit Emily to his side. Emily along with the rest of his cohorts assisted Akodomal against his many enemies during an event known as The Five Year War. While Emily had no qualms with getting her hands dirty for Akodomal's cause, she stood firmly in her beliefs in not harming any children or civilians who were not intentionally going against them. This did not sit well with her comrades, who had no qualms about killing anyone, but Akodomal did not mind as long as Emily would kill those who stood in his way.

Definitely A Good Guy - King Onyx Versus Emily

During The Five Year War, Hellin along with her team consisting of Orsela, Scylla, and three male sages resided in Mayland. The group encountered Emily Bathory and the succubus, Socha, during their trip to Plutonia to protect the country's King who was being targeted by Akodomal for assassination. Socha summoned her demonic penis-like monsters to combat the heroes. The grotesque creatures immediately attacked. Hellin, Orsela, and Scylla dodged the attack. The sages who accompanied them weren't as fortunate. They were mercilessly and quickly devoured. With the three male sages having been annihilated, Hellin and the girls were all that stood in both women's way from accomplishing their mission to assassinate the King of Plutonia.

Fortunately, before the situation could get worse, a portal opened. Emerging from the portal were none other than King Onyx Carnival and his best friend and right-hand man, James Del Soto. Onyx ordered James to assist Hellin and the girls against Socha while he faced off against Bathory. Emily was nervous to find herself having to fight against Mayland's current ruler. Nonetheless, she had no intention of backing down from the fight. Thankfully, Akodomal previously placed an anti-telepathy spell upon both Socha and Emily, thus Emily did not fear having to deal with Onyx taking over her mind. Onyx, aware of the spell, didn't even bother using his telepathic powers. Instead, he used his powerful water magic along with his incredible speed and strength to battle his opponent. Battling the blood bender wasn't easy because not only could Emily use her own blood as a weapon, but the blood of those within range. Onyx had to make sure to avoid any attacks in order to not become the next victim of the blood witch. The battle was intense. Both parties gave it everything they had while avoiding any fatal blows from the other.

Eventually, Emily managed to cut Onyx's arm. Despite his regenerative powers, his blood was exposed, thus placing him in a tough predicament. Emily then attempted to use Onyx's blood to rip him into pieces, but both divine and sinister powers erupted within the King's body, allowing him to overpower Emily's control of him. Onyx, while in a frenzied state, grabbed Emily and slammed her mercilessly to the ground, thus putting an end to their battle. Nearly all of Emily's bones and vital organs were damaged. Normally, Emily would have used her blood magic to mend herself. Because of her exhaustion from battling, the blood witch didn't have the strength required to do so and began feeling herself slip away. Onyx, who managed to break free from his rage caused by battle, sensed he could now read Emily's mind.

Hellin and the others managed to kill Socha. They made their way over to check up on Onyx. Upon reaching Onyx, they were all shocked to see Onyx carrying an injured and dying Emily in his arms. Onyx, having read the woman's mind, not only learned of her truth, but sensed her guilt. Unlike the rest of Akodomal's cohorts, Emily was misguided rather than naturally evil despite having been a serial killer in her past life. Hellin passionately berated Onyx for being a fucking softy and showing mercy to an enemy. Despite Hellin's cruel words, Onyx's resolve to aid Emily remained unshaken.

James was once again at Onyx's side as Onyx opened a portal to return James, Emily, and himself to Mayland to get Emily the medical attention she desperately needed. While in Onyx's arms on her way to be healed from the critical damage she sustained during their battle, Emily felt grateful. Never once did she imagine that there were truly kind souls within this world, especially a half-demon King of a powerful nation. Words could not describe how thankful she was to Onyx for showing her the very mercy that no one else had ever shown her throughout her many years of living.

Onyx intentionally hid Emily's involvement with Akodomal, so she would not be mistreated by hospital staff, and so any family members who lost their loved ones because of Akodomal's actions would not seek her out and exact revenge. Following medical treatment and a couple weeks rest, Emily recovered from her injuries and felt like her normal self.

The End Of Akodomal & A New Start At Life

Onyx ordered Emily to lay low for the remainder of The Five Year War. Emily learned that the majority of Akodomal's cohorts were slain by the combined efforts of the heroes of the Mortal Realm and demons of the Underworld. The exceptions were Bubblegum Sevencolors, who abandoned Akodomal and her allies once she realized she was on the losing side; and The God Ares, who was defeated in battle and returned to Mystillia, the realm of the gods. Akodomal's inevitable defeat drew near as the heroes throughout the globe combined their powers in order to take down the sinister god. During the final battle, Emily joined Onyx, Hellin, James, Yura, Orsela, Scylla, Queen Aliyu, the Empress of China, the Emperor of Japan, Russia's Ruler, and many other heroic beings within the Mortal Realm. Akodomal, who believed Emily died, along with Socha, on the mission to assassinate the King of Plutonia, was shocked to not only see her alive but battling alongside the heroes. The god was eventually taken down by the heroes, with Hellin delivering the death blow.

The world naturally rejoiced when the war against their existence finally came to a close. Everyone resumed their normal lives and, thanks to her efforts in defeating Akodomal, Emily received praise from all the world as well as from many of the other heroes; all except for Hellin, Scylla, and Yura, who knew of Emily's role in the war prior to her being saved by Onyx. However, now that Emily and Onyx have become friends, their chagrin would not be enough to change the public's opinion of the Blood Sage.

Shortly afterwards, Emily became a model. She walked many runaways throughout the world and her face appeared on the cover of several popular magazines. Eventually, she began dating an actor from Indonesia. Whenever she was not busy enjoying her extravagant lifestyle, Emily often messaged Onyx via Pictagram or other social media apps. Emily was eternally grateful to Onyx for sparing her life that day; the very life she thought was cursed. Thankfully, upon her own redemption, the curse that once plagued her existence because of the sins of her past self, no longer hindered her; as long as she remained on a good path in life. Emily also continued developing her blood magic, although she hadn’t really used it for several years since Akodomal's demise. While it's unfortunate that certain individuals, like Hellin, Orsela, and Yura, still have a negative view of her after so many years later, Emily vowed to continue remaining on a proper path in life; not only for herself, but to prove to her doubters that she deserved her redemption.

TRIVIA

Emily is the first FORBIDDEN character I created who uses blood based magic.

Emily is inspired by the actual Elisabeth Bathory, who was a serial killer from Hungary.

Following her being inspired by Elisabeth Bathory, the alternate name for Elisabeth Bathory was Erzsebet Bathory. Erzsebet is who Emily was in her previous life before her death.

The female sage who cursed Emily's past self is an ancestor of Okubi Dreamtime from their father's side.

Early concept ideas for Emily: I was considering making her a teenager, but I felt that would be too boring. Thus, I went the route of making Emily a full-grown woman. I also didn't want my Bathory inspired character to be too similar to Elisabeth Bathory from the FATE series.

Emily is one of King Onyx's closest friends despite being enemies during The Five Year War. After her defeat by Onyx, the two would began their friendship upon Onyx learning of Emily's rough upbringing. The two have been friends for years and continued to keep a good connection with each other despite their busy lives.

Although Emily is viewed as a "HERO" because of her past affiliation with Akodomal, certain heroes have not forgiven her and still view her poorly but merely tolerate her because of her friendship with Onyx.

Mini Relationship Chart

Favorable

Onyxe: Saved her life after defeating her. Learning of her background made him feel sympathy for the misunderstood blood sage/witch

James: Anyone cool in Onyx's book is usually cool in his book. Also, she’s HOT as his flames

Red: Likes her because he mainly wishes to bang her

Railing: Railing was once an assassin hired to kill Onyx, yet they ended up being amigos. Railing doesn't feel like it's his place to judge Emily. Plus, she's hot, so why hate her?

Lea: Despite Emily being ordered by Akodomal to assassinate her father many years ago, Lea, who was unaware at the time of Emily's villainous ways, bonded with her over fashion. Lea also respects Emily for directly apologizing to her about her past misdeeds

Neutral

The NEUTRAL crowd are people who can look past Emily's treacherous past, but still hold reservations about her

Yura
August
Trevyn
Meghan
Anna

Dislike

Hellin: Emily worked under Akodomal during The Five Year War. Regardless to Emily changing her ways and aiding in the defeat of Akodomal, Hellin strongly believes she got off easy and should have shared the fate of the rest of her former allies

Orsela: Although Orsela doesn't outright despise Emily like her sister does, and even acknowledges that Emily has been a decent person since the war ended, Orsela still views the blood sage/witch as a War Criminal who was lucky to have encountered Onyx and receive his mercy

Scylla: Shares Hellin's sentiments when it comes to Emily. Akodomal and his minions were responsible for many innocent lives being lost in her home country of Greece during the war. Scylla will always have resentment towards Emily for the role she played prior to becoming a turncoat
