BACKSTORY

Before becoming the 135th King of Mayland, after he defeated the former ruler, Queen Ida, King Onyx was once a seemingly ordinary Cambion raised by his adopted father, Tobirama Senju. Unaware of his true origins, an infant Onyx was found on the doorstep of Tobirama Senju, a former assassin. The man was perplexed to see a half-demon newborn on his steps. He assumed the child was birthed by a mortal woman who had been unfortunately sexually victimized by a demon, thus didn't want her baby. In reality, Onyx's birth had caused his mother's, Rosemary, death because he was too powerful for her to birth. That led him to be abandoned by his biological father, a powerful Grim Reaper named Maximillion Knox. The retired assassin didn't particularly desire to be a parent, but he refused to abandon the child and did not intend to kill him. Therefore, Tobirama swiftly made up his mind to raise the child as his own.

Growing up, Onyx lived a simple and happy life with his father. At the age of five, Onyx discovered he was half-demon, better referred to as a Cambion. That's when he also learned that Tobirama wasn't his biological father. Despite Onyx's worries, Tobirama loved him deeply and even began teaching him to be comfortable being a half-demon and learning how to use his powers. As he approached adulthood, Onyx met a very sexy woman dressed in purple. She introduced herself as "Madame Violet". The two became fast friends and Onyx eventually discovered that "Madame Violet" was actually Othello Strongs, the current Demon Lord of Babylon. Despite becoming a very powerful being in the Mortal Ream, thanks to the daily training from his father and improving his telepathic abilities, Onyx's ambitions were pretty simple. He enjoyed living with his father and working as a Boat Rider for the multitude of tourists. Sadly, Onyx's happiness with his father was about to come to a heartbreaking end because his father's past employer and former lover, Mayland's current ruler, Queen Ida, planned to assassinate Tobirama.

One day after returning home from work, Onyx was horrified to see a bunch of dead bodies around the house. Sensing his father was in danger, he hurried to go and save him. Alas, when Onyx saw his father, he had already been gravely injured by an assailant. Filled with unspeakable rage, Onyx attacked and murdered his father's assailant. Making his way to his injured father, Onyx's eyes were filled with tears as he was forced to witness his father die in his arms. Before Tobirama passed away, he commanded Onyx to read his mind to learn the truth about him and why he was killed. Knowing his father was a former assassin who had a history with Mayland's current ruler, Onyx became distraught and wanted to avenge his father, but he was unsure if that was the right thing to do. Othello then suddenly appeared and successfully persuaded Onyx to seek revenge. This necessitated Onyx having to enter the upcoming Devilry Combat Tournament in order to fight Queen Ida. During his journey to the tournament, Onyx met a demon named James Del Soto. After saving him from his assassins, the two of them became friends and James promised to assist Onyx in his quest for vengeance. 

Upon traveling from Arundel to the Royal Lands, Onyx and James entered the tournament in order to eliminate Queen Ida. The tournament proved challenging, but Onyx managed to defeat all adversaries as he made his way up the ranks to challenge Queen Ida. The two fought a fierce battle that put Onyx to the test. In the end, he slayed the Queen and became Mayland's new ruler in her place. Onyx did not truly desire to become King, but he accepted that outcome upon avenging his father and killing Ida. With James by his side, Onyx was ready to take on his role as Mayland's newest ruler. Shortly afterwards, Onyx met Hellin, Princess of Babylon and Othello's daughter. The two had an unexpected connection upon meeting along with sharing almost identical physical features. 

Ruling Mayland for over a century, Onyx had to overcome many adversaries who either wanted to take his throne or simply despised having a half-demon in power. Thankfully, over the years, Onyx made many allies from all around the world, along with proving himself a worthy ruler to the citizens of Mayland.

TRIVIA

1- King Onyx is based on myself, Onyxe Blade, but with a more fantasy twist.

2- King Onyx and Hellin Strongs are duo reincarnations of Okubi Dreamtime.

3- King Onyx and Hellin Strongs share a similar relationship to one another as the Darkstalkers character (owned by Capcom, not me) Morrigan and Lilith Aensland.

4. King Onyx, while proficient in various spells, specializes in water-based magic.

5- King Onyx is also known as the "Naked King" because of his love for wearing revealing clothing.

6- King Onyx's signature color is creamy pink.

7- King Onyx's eyes were originally red like a typical demon or Cambion. However, he magically gave himself heterochromia and changed one eye turquoise and the other eye green. 

8- King Onyx currently dates K-Pop (Korean Pop) idol and sage, Sung Jin, but in secrecy because of the taboo of an idol having a love life. Only trusted individuals know about the two's relationship.

9- King Onyx considers James Del Soto his best friend and vice versa. The two men are very close and comfortable with one another, but they are not lovers. Never have been. Many people who witness them interact usually assume that to be the case. That is, until James sees an attractive woman and immediately begins pursuing her. James loves Onyx deeply, but he's heterosexual while Onyx is homosexual.

10- King Onyx's as Mayland 135th ruler has regular guards, but his Elite Guards (guards who are tasked with protecting Onyx along with greater responsibilities) are James Del Soto, Yura Mikan, Anna Del Soto, Palisade Herrera, Donovan Red, Meghan Lily, and Odessa Crestfallen. The Elite Guards are powerful warriors who either competed against him in previous Devilry Combat tournaments or Sages he met during his travels who he wanted to serve him.

11- King Onyx is not particularly skilled in fire-based magic despite his years of living. It's even funnier because being half-demon, fire is a common power that is used by the species, but he is average at the skill at best.

12- King Onyx is one of the strongest telepaths in the Mortal Realm.
